Night-themed Coloring
Colored Pencils on Bond Paper
We were given two lineart prints to color and one of them should be the day and the other one should be the night. For the designation of the themes, I decided to make the first drawing's theme a morning because of the birds present in the drawing—which we often see in the morning. The hues that are typically observed in daylight, such as brilliant and vivid colors, served as the sole inspiration for the color scheme I applied. I added vivid hues to the shadows to mirror the cast lighting and used yellow to highlight the subject. For the second drawing, I chose desaturated colors. The colors represent an evening-themed piece, it tends to show the dominance of the shadows on this drawing. A yellow highlight was also applied, but this time it represented the lumination of moonlight. Also, to depict the subtle brightness, I used light blue on the edges of the subject.

For this activity, we were not allowed to see the colors while painting. The overlay should be black and white, and we should only rely on values when color-picking. I chose this subject because I was more familiar with portraits' tonal values.
